MEETING REPORT: LOSSAN Corridor
April 13, 2004, Los Angeles
Reported by Ken Ruben
There were a lot of items brought up at this LOSSAN Meeting. One is the start-up of the second LA-San Luis Obispo train, date yet to be determined, but hopefully this fall, using the Horizon cars, and probably the dome car which I asked about specifically.
I also asked about the current Amtrak funding for California and basically we are ok. The budget for this year is the same as last year.
I brought up a possible Pacific Business Class car on the San Joaquins and that is a long-range project in the future along with same for the Capitols.
There was a list of legislation on the agenda. One of the measures for LOSSAN to oppose is Senator McClintock's bill to eliminate the High-Speed Rail Authority.
LOSSAN definitely supports Amtrak funding and there was an internal dispute over the funding of LOSSAN activities from the member agencies.
