RailPAC ARCHIVES

The articles archived here (links listed in left navigation column) have appeared in the Western Rail Passenger Review, or have been written especially for this page. They represent the thinking of dedicated rail advocates, some of whom -- Byron Nordberg, Dr. Adrian Herzog, and Alan Wimmergren, are no longer with us, and who are paid a tribute in a separate article in our Archives.

Mike McGinley retired on June 26, 2006, after a distinguished career as Los Angeles Metrolink/SCRRA Director of Engineering. In this photo Mr. McGinley joined in the discussion of Metrolink's future plans at a RailPAC Board meeting on April 5, 1997 in Fullerton. This was a RailPAC meeting held at the new Santa Ana Amtrak station on February 24, 1985. Speakers were (Left to right) Dr. Bill Hamilton, co-author of the Amtrak Accounting analysis series published in Passenger Train Journal; Amtrak Board member from California, Ralph Kerchum; California State Senator Jim Mills, the "father" of the LOSSAN Corridor and also an Amtrak Board member; Andrew C. Selden, then called the "dean of Amtrak critics," and co-author of the Amtrak Accounting analysis; RailPAC founding President Byron Nordberg; and Louis Thompson of the FRA's Northeast Corridor Improvement Project. In 2004 Mr. Thompson was nominated to the Amtrak Board of Directors, but his Senate approval is still pending. Photo by current RailPAC President, Noel Braymer
